The proper way to install supply lines is with the
brass nipple as shown above. The tube can also be inserted into a brass
solder style male adapter. The supply line will slide into either fitting.
Both should be stubbed out of the floor between 3/4" and 1". The
brass nipple is best because the installer can easily slide the supply
tube up and down when connecting to the faucet. If you go into an old
house, look at the nipple coming out of the wall beneath the toilet. You
will see a brass nipple attached to a valve or "stop". This is the best
way.
When using "solder" or "sweat" male adapters, the
supply bottoms out in the fitting but still has ample room to make a
proper seal. To fit the many old style faucets our double offset supply is
9/16 outside diameter which will fit the above fittings. Our single offset
and straight supply tubes are 1/2" O.D..
Installation with "solder" or
"sweat" male adapter. Sometimes the fit may be a little tight, but will go
in with a little twist.
